Introduction

　　The Department of Geriatric at Shenzhen Second People’s Hospital, formerly known as the Cadre Ward, was established in 1985. It integrates geriatric medicine, cadre healthcare, and residency training, offering a tranquil and well-equipped environment. It is the first department in Shenzhen to introduce a Three Renowned Experts Program in Geriatric Medicine, collaborating closely with the Geriatric Medicine Department of Peking Union Medical College Hospital and the Geriatric Medicine Department of the General Hospital of the People’s Liberation Army. The department is committed to creating geriatric demonstration wards and advancing modern geriatric diagnostic and treatment models.

　　As Shenzhen’s first team to implement standardized Comprehensive Geriatric Assessments (CGA), the department has leveraged high-level platforms to establish:

　　The department actively carries out projects such as multidisciplinary remote consultations, comprehensive geriatric assessments, bidirectional referrals, and citywide reassessments of elderly functional capacities. It has made significant progress in areas such as chronic disease management in the elderly, cognitive impairment, cardiovascular aging assessment and intervention, sarcopenia, and frailty syndrome. After decades of effort, its influence has extended to surrounding areas of Shenzhen.
